Autism Speaks' Walk Now for Autism, the nation's largest grassroots autism walk program, takes place in communities across the United States, as well as in Canada and the United Kingdom. Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum, this successful grassroots fundraising effort not only generates vital funds for autism research but also raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder. I have cheered my fiance and his work team on from the sidelines in the past, but this year I will be participating in the Walk as well!

HOOray for Boobies -- The Etsy OWLS Celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month

In case you hadn't noticed, October has a new color trumping orange -- Pink! October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so the girls of etsyOWLS decided to create some items and sell them in our team shop to benefit breast cancer research. 100% of the proceeds from these items will go straight to charity! This is a cause that means a lot to us, myself in particular, as my grandmother was a breast cancer survivor, and I have known many women and their families and friends, both directly and indirectly, who have suffered from this disease. We hope we have done the cause justice with our pieces.

EtsyOWLS Owl-oween Fun CONTEST!

From September 22nd to October 6th, 2008, the EtsyOWLS will be holding a Halloween Giveaway Contest! Customers who purchase items from the following shops between these dates will be entered into a contest to win some fabulous prizes, donated by etsyOWLS members. Limit TWO entries per person per shop. An entry is considered one transaction with a seller. If you buy 4 items, you get ONE entry for that transaction. If you come back in two days and purchase another 2 items, you get another ONE entry.You can shop at as many of the participating shops as you like and receive entries from all of them, but only TWO per shop!
